How to Switch Back to Chrome’s Older New Tab Page

Recently Google Chrome has launched a new kind of New Tab page. All the users of chrome, who are updated with it, may be well aware of it. And as per the reviews of the users, it is not being so reliable for most of the users. So, I will mention a way to switch back to the older version of New Tab page in Google Chrome.

What is special in the new ‘New Tab’ page?

Google Chrome is experimenting on New Tab page since a long time ago say approximately 1 year. Now, there is a new design of chrome’s new tab which is generally not liked by most of the users. Why? Obviously, because it has become little tough for the users to use it. As recently closed tabs are away. The 8 most visited web pages are in the form of thumbnail below a Google-doodle in new tab page that does not look so good. It is something like:

Changes in New Tab page of Google Chrome

Basically the changes are made to show that you can search by typing directly into the browser’s address bar, for the persons who are unaware about it. According to a Chrome software engineer the goal is to save people time by helping them search and navigate the web faster.

But, it is annoying for most of users, because a regular user knows all about this and it looks like a waste of space. And instead it, when you type something into the search box, it actually shows up in the address bar, anyway — which just looks and feels odd. (Maybe it’s a way of trying to teach users to use the address bar instead of the search box — but if so, shouldn’t the search box go away once you get it?)

So, the good thing is that you can switch it back to the old look as per your convenience. But, how to do that? Here it is:
How to switch back to older New Tab page?

To get the older new tab page in chrome, you have to follow the below steps carefully:

Type chrome://flags or chrome://flags/#enable-instant-extended-api into your browser’s address bar.
Just search for the option labeled as: Enable Instant Extended API, or you will get it at the top of the page, if you use the second code (longer one in the first step).
Change its setting from Default or Enabled to Disabled.
And now, click on Relaunch Now or just restart your browser. You have done it successfully.
This process is reversible. You can change it again to new look.

I hope it will work for you for sure. There are other ways also for doing so, either by using extensions or something else, but I would suggest doing it only; because more extensions increase load on the PC.

Note: Do not change other settings here, till you are not well-aware about them.

Now it is for your kindness to provide the feedback regarding this article along with which look do you prefer most. You are most welcomed to comment below icon smile How to Switch Back to Chromes Older New Tab Page

Top 8 methods to Unblock Websites

Most of us suffer from the problem of blocked websites, which are blocked by either our ISP (Internet Service Provider), by college or at job place. It has been a common issue nowadays as there are many restrictions applied to the websites being visited in a particular place. Talking about me, I face this problem in my college very often, where my favourite websites like YouTube is also blocked. Besides it  many sites providing free downloads are also blocked. So, how do I unblock websites? Here I am putting top ways  to access blocked websites:

How to Unblock Websites in Your Campus?

1.  Unblock Websites Using IP Address Instead of original URL

If any website is blocked in your network, it is very easy and basic method that you can use to access the desired website. In this method, you get the IP address of that particular website, and run it into your browser. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Go to command prompt (Mac users should go to terminal).

2. Enter the command: ping google.com

3. Hit Enter and you will get the IP address of  google.com, and now you can visit google.com by entering this IP address like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in your URL field of the browser.

Note: This method works only when the site is having a dedicated IP address. If the site is hosted on a shared server, you will require the username of the site owner for that shared hosting. For eg.: You will enter the URL as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/~username to access a site on a shared hosting. But you do not know the username, so it will not work. In this case, you will need to try any other method, as mentioned below.

2. Unblock Websites using Proxy Servers

Using proxy server is one of the best ways to access blocked websites. In this method, you go to a proxy server (site) and there put your desired webpage address. It will show you the desired webpage. Some popular proxy servers are: kproxy.com, hidemyass.com, proxify.net etc. These services allow you to access all the webpages, which are blocked in your network. There are many proxy servers, and no. of these servers are increasing day by day.

Note: You can also create your own proxy server very easily. You can also access websites using our own proxy server.

3. Unblock Websites using VPN

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a group of computers or a network, like Internet. A VPN basically works for providing you the secure access to internet and different websites. It ensures that all your data which is being sent or received is encrypted and can not be stolen. But, you can also use VPN to access blocked websites in your area. VPN is basically a tool, which you will need to install in your PC, tablet etc. and connect to it for accessing websites (both blocked and unblocked). Some VPN also demand you to login with your credentials and then allow you the access. Most popular VPN tools are Hotspot Shield, Freegate VPN, Hide My IP etc.
4. Access Webpages using Wayback Machine

Wayback Machine is basically a tool, that shows you history of any website. Using Wayback Machine, you can see the webpages at the instances, when they were saved at the Wayback Machine. It might not be the original and latest, but it will give you a general idea, what you was looking for. It is good way to access static websites in past also.

5. Unblock Websites using Proxy Address

You can use your browser’s settings to access some sites. In the proxy settings, you change the proxy server and port address, which can be obtained from proxy servers like hidemyass.com etc.

Browsers like Chrome, Internet Explorer follow the settings mentioned in Internet Options in the browser. You can change the settings in Internet Options>>Connection>>LAN Settings>>Use a Proxy Server…. In Mozilla Firefox, there are inbuilt option in settings of the browser for proxy.

6. Access Webpages using Google Translation

Google Translate service is used to translate texts or webpages from one language to another. That means, if you can access Google Translate service, then you can also access any website by entering its web address in the text area for translation. Besides Google Translate there are some other translation services also avaialble, which allow you to do so, but not much popular as Google. You just need to use the English to English translation, and your site is unblocked.
